Alan Wake is a psychological action thriller from Remedy, the legendary and renowned developers of highly successful action titles. Gamers assume the role of Alan Wake, a best-selling suspense author who escapes to a small town to recover from the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée. Set in the deceptively idyllic town of Bright Falls, Washington, Alan Wake immerses players in an intense and expansive cinematic world that enables players to roam freely in hyper-realistic, dynamic and interactive environments. Alan Wake is mission-based with a deeply engaging and suspenseful story line unveiling new twists and profound character revelations at every turn. Players will unravel the riveting plot through multilayered character interactions, unique problem-solving and intense combat against terrifying enemies. In this nightmarish world, Alan Wake must use a variety of weapons to survive, including his most powerful ally against the creatures of darkness - light itself.

3.5 out of 10 An interesting game,
David from Dublin, 27 Apr 2011
A lot of effort went into this game and the supernatural themes are nicely used, but ultimately I'm a guy who wants to enjoy a game for every minute I'm playing it and Alan Wake spends too much time with you in gloomy surroundings going through largely the same set of actions to dispatch enemies. The game has it's good moments, when you shoot a flare at the light hating monsters just right, when a scripted sequence hits just the right tone, when a game character manages to land on your good side, and the occasional decent plot moment; but ultimately I feel the good moments are too far apart and what you're left with is a decent interactive experience that may not be to everyone's taste.

3 out of 10 Good, but lacking in polish
Neil from Dublin, 23 Jul 2010
Despite the cheesy sub Steven King plot, and the 5 years out of date gameplay, I found this game very entertaining. The use of light as a safe haven and some of the set pieces were great and the atmosphere of the game is genuinely spooky. It is well worth checking out.

Eerie Story, good game play but lacks the action to really challenge you. Still overall worth a look
