Warrior stars Tom Hardy (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) and Joel Edgerton (The Thing). An inspirational and exhilarating roller-coaster of a film, Warrior centres around Tommy (Hardy) - an ex marine haunted by a tragic past, who enlists the help of his estranged father (Nick Nolte) to train up for the fight of his life. A former wrestling prodigy, Tommy blazes a path towards SPARTA - the biggest 'winner takes all' Mixed Martial Arts event in history. His brother, Brendan (Joel Edgerton), an ex-fighter-turned teacher, also returns to the ring in a desperate bid to save his family from financial ruin. So when Brendan's unlikely, underdog rise sets him on a collision course with the unstoppable Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront each other - and the forces that pulled them apart - in the ultimate face off.

5 out of 10 My favourite film of 2011
Elizabeth from Dublin, 26 Jan 2012
Something about Warrior just takes hold of you and doesn't let go. While the plot is full of standard sports movie tropes, albet in the relatively new sport of mixed martial arts, the film transcends the potential clichés to become something purely wonderful. The heart of the film are two brothers set on an inevitable collision course as each enters the MMA tournament for very different reasons. Joel Edgerton is brilliant as Brendan, the ex-fighter turned physics teacher who goes back into the ring to save his family home from repossession. Tom Hardy as his brother Tommy, an ex-Marine with a secret, is a force of nature, filled with such rage, pain and raw power that it is impossible to look away when he is onscreen. The supporting cast are also excellent - Oscar nominee Nick Nolte is particularly good as the recovering alcoholic seeking a last chance to redeem himself for the years of abuse he meted out to his sons, but Frank Grillo is also great as Brendan's trainer, who plays

3.5 out of 10 Very good, could have been better
Mark from Dublin, 06 Mar 2012
Expectation of this film was overwhelming and to a certain extent it didnt disappoint. Great action sequences, great story of family etc but a few drawbacks. Hard to engage with the main character Tommy. He might as well be on Eastenders, he spends 2 hours whinging and in the end you dont want him to win. Lots of unbelievable parts, even for 'leave the brain at the door' action. Well worth a watch but far from the best film of the year.

4 out of 10 Fault and forgiveness
Jan from Galway, 02 May 2012
Good picture, presenting a weak nature of us - humans. The only one prescription for that seems to be...forgiveness. But how to redeem a long past? These two brothers have theirs own way - a fight!

4.5 out of 10 Excellent
Anthony from Limerick, 06 Mar 2012
This movie was excellent to say the least, it had everything from family problems to classic fighting. It also shows what a person would do to keep a roof over his family's head.
