Somers Town (2008)

Runaway Tomo (Thomas Turgoose) arrives in London with nothing but a bag and a swagger. Within hours, the bag has been stolen and a chance meeting with bored Polish teenager Marek proves Tomo’s only hope. Together, the two pursue moneymaking scams – as well as the affections of local waitresses. Despite the bleakness of the innerLondon setting, this is Shane Meadows at his most charming, compassionate and hilarious.

4.5 out of 10 if you liked This Is England, you'll love this one

Great to see the star of This Is England grown up and giving another natural performance. A very simple story about a friendship which develops between a Nottingham teenager and Polish teenager both bored and lonely in London. Shot in black and white throughout, moving to colour for the last few minutes ending in quite a joyful mood.

1 out of 10 Boring.
Alan from Dublin, 21 Mar 2010
Only bothered to rent this because of the good reviews, I'm sorry I did. Can't see what all the fuss was about, nothing really happens in this, two teenagers mooning over a french waitress and robbing clothes from a laundrette...not my idea of a good movie, bored me to death. Give it a miss.

4 out of 10 Somers Town

Another beautiful movie from Shane Meadows. Everything I have seen from this young director so far is pure gold The main star starts out as awfully annoying but you cant help but love him at the end and the relationship between the Polish boy and his dad comes across very strongly.

4 out of 10 Credible, exciting performances.
Frances from Dublin, 18 Apr 2010
This very low key film is slightly thin on plot but thick on terrific comedic performances. Don't let the lack of strong plot put you off, this is in itself a charm. Thomas Turgoose turns in a natural and brilliant performance. Very sweet, charming film, will warm you to your bones.

This is a lovely story about a polish teenager in london who meets a young northern english teenager. The young english actor is brilliant - hilarious - I hadn't heard of this film so I wasn't expecting much from it but was pleasantly surprised, laughed alot - well worth seeing
