Typical Tarantino

Jackie Brown is typical Tarantino. Its an above average movie, with some good perfomances from some overlooked or forgotten actors, and tons of in jokes and movie references for the geeks out there. Its not as good a movie as Tarantino would like it to be or as fans think it is, but its typically well-paced and entertaining. If Tarantino's self-indulgence doesn't make you want to put your foot through your telly, there's plenty to enjoy.

Tarantino's third film, and probably his most restrained. The body count is low and the violence is toned down from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. The characterisation is much better though, and as a result you actually end up caring about the characters. The acting is spot on in general, with Sam Jackson excellent as the very nasty villain of the piece.
